SPEC. 018 — FLOOR PREPARATION
The prep nobody sees — and every finish depends on.
Before any floor is chosen, we test and prepare the substrate underneath it. Screed, timber, tiles and concrete all move and absorb differently — the preparation has to match both the substrate and the exact product going over it, or the finish fails early, no matter how well it's applied.
—Moisture-tested before any product is specified
—Primer and bonding agent matched to your substrate
—Cracks and movement isolated before the first coat

01 — WHY FLOOR PREPARATION MATTERS
Get the prep right and the floor lasts. Get it wrong, and no finish will save it.
A seamless floor is only as good as what's underneath it. We treat preparation as its own stage of the job, specified for your particular substrate and the particular product going over it — not a generic skim before the finish everyone actually notices.
Moisture tested first
Every substrate is moisture-tested before we specify a system — the wrong call here is the single biggest cause of early failure.
Substrate-specific priming
Screed, chipboard, tiles and concrete each take a different primer and bonding agent — matched to what's actually there, not a one-size approach.
Cracks isolated, not hidden
Hairline movement in the substrate is isolated with the right membrane so it doesn't telegraph through the finished floor.
Specified for the product on top
Microcement, resin and terrazzo systems each demand different preparation — the prep is specified around the finish you've chosen, not generic.
